Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No, you do not need a referral from a doctor to visit as a private patient. However, you need a doctor's referral if you are using specific government or insurance programs like Medicare Chronic Disease Management, WorkSafe Victoria, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), or the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA).

Can I choose the therapist I prefer to book?

Yes! We show their availability when you proceed to booking.

Is there parking available at the clinic?

Yes, there is free 2-hour street parking right outside the clinic.

Treatment & Appointments

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear flexible, comfortable clothing like activewear. Make sure the clothing allows easy access to the area being evaluated—for instance, shorts for a knee or hip assessment, or a tank top/singlet for a shoulder issue.

How many sessions will I need before I feel better?

Recovery timelines vary based on the tissue involved, condition severity, and your consistency with prescribed exercises. Minor muscle strains often improve in 3 to 6 sessions, whereas chronic pain or post-surgical rehabilitation can require several months of ongoing management.

Will the treatment hurt?

The goal is always to reduce pain, not cause it. You may experience temporary soreness or mild discomfort during deep tissue work, joint mobilizations, or new exercises—much like post-workout soreness. Your therapist will continually adjust techniques to stay within your comfortable tolerance.
